This is a personal project of me because I am an engineer and I believe there is such a thing as eLearning Engineering. I have worked in this area for some time, mainly in the academic sector for major universities, but I have experience designing certification programs. I am interested in applying this to instruction and training. I am interested in filling those gaps left by traditional education. Finally, I am interested in using this method to engineering subjects.
You may find a lot of definitions out there, but let me tell you what I understand what eLearning is to me. It is true this mode of instruction delivery started as a way to develop educational materials using electronic means, such as a computer (it used to be called computer based training, CBT), television, and film. But it exploded once we started using the internet for these applications.
Now, we can confidently say that eLearning went from instruction delivered through electronic means, to learning designed and produced exclusively for the web, and now we are actually talking about producing instructional materials using a artificial intelligence.
Defining eLearning engineering
This is a concept I created to explain my design process. I see designing courses for eLearning as an engineering problem. I take apart the problem in manageable pieces and I address each one until the problem is solved. To me, the most exciting part is not finding a solution but to see it working.
We apply this principle in the design of our courses. We also love to involve customers in this whole process, they should participate in every step of the way. Using this concept, we can also guarantee that these courses will have a long shelf life, until reviews are necessary.
Having participated in many engineering projects, I know problems are effectively solved by teams, not by one individual. This is why we in eLearning In Motion believe that every course must have a team working together behind it. This is a triage of designers, users, and customers that will produce a successful project.
What is eLearning iIn Motion?
We are a company that provides services to organizations that are looking for technology solutions to implementing their platforms for teaching or training programs. We use an approach similar to an engineering project: a project team, control of processes, and analysis of data from results.
I believe there is a need for a company like this that focuses on the solutions required to implement an online system. We are not an instructional design company solely. We take your project from development all the way to implementation and later improvement.
There are plenty of organizations that will help you build your courseware but they will stop short of giving any advice on how to make your course work in your implemented system, or even help you implement a new system that will suit your needs.
Our project to change learning
In eLearning In Motion we want to innovate how we learn. We believe there is a lack of projects that focused on applying online learning principles and practices for hard subjects such as mathematics, physics, engineering, biology, and other sciences and engineering subjects. We have seen academic projects from major universities, we have seen projects published in MOOCs such as Coursera and eDX.
We also believe that online training needs a new focus on people and not so much on content. We need to produce engaging objects that support learning, not just games that only provide entertainment and zero learning. We believe in case scenarios and branching elements for online learning.
Reach out to us
As you can see from our content, we think that the solution for your challenges facing your training or educational systems is in the basic understanding of instructional design, and the efficient application of best practices in eLearning.
We are ready to help you achieve your goals in your organization. Your processes will improve if you have properly trained and educated personnel. Keeping your team at their best level should be your priority, you don’t want to face a more prepared competition that decided to invest in the education of your team.
